Understanding WorkPlaceWorkPlace is your managed desktop environment. It is the familiar Windows operating system, with a twist. WorkPlace houses your data and applications, but runs off of our servers in the data center. The servers and data center are built with great redundancies, so they are highly reliable. The combination of redundant drives, power, Internet connections, cooling, backups, antivirus, remote monitoring, web filtering, and spyware protection make WorkPlace the most reliable computing platform you will ever use.
WorkPlace ClientsAny computer can become a WorkPlace client. With an Internet connection, you can access your WorkPlace from home, the road, or even your phone. Best of all, the applications, data, and general appearance will be consistent from wherever you connect. This means that you no longer have to copy and synchronize files back and forth, and you are never without the applications or files you require. WorkPlace has very minimal hardware requirements, so you can use your existing equipment, even if it is outdated.
Thin Client and Netbook CompatibilityThin clients are the ideal way to connect to WorkPlace. They are built specifically for this purpose, and because they have no moving parts, they have a life expectancy of 6 years. Thin clients use a fraction of the energy of traditional personal computers. Because no data is kept on the thin clients, they represent no liability if they are stolen or damaged. If the thin client does break, Virsage can replace the hardware or ‘reimaged’ it to the original state in a matter of minutes. Thin clients are more productive and less expensive to purchase and operate than are traditional PC’s.
Netbooks are the thin client equivalent of a laptop. These smaller devices are less expensive than traditional laptops, and more portable. When you connect to WorkPlace, you are actually using the computing power of our robust servers, so the speed of the client computer becomes irrelevant.
